Secretary General of the Bureau International des Expositions, Dimitri Kerkentzes, expressed his expectations for Expo 2023 Doha, recognizing it as a pivotal platform where nations can collaboratively work towards addressing the looming threat of climate change. He stated, "Humanity has been able to overcome multitudes of challenges over our history. This is one of those examples where we give countries from all over the world an opportunity to come together to work on the biggest global issue of the future." He remarked, "It is the first time that we approve an international horticulture exhibition in the desert, and it can seem like a contradiction for horticulture but here it is an illustration of the challenges faced not just by desert regions but by the whole world."
