Qatar National Dialogue on Climate Change at Expo 2023 Doha
From October 15th to 16th, the Congress Center of Expo 2023 Doha was the stage for the Qatar National Dialogue on Climate Change. Organized by Qatar Foundation's (QF) Earthna Center, the French Embassy in Doha, the French Business Council in Qatar, and Qatar National Bank (QNB), the event gathered global leaders and experts passionately advocating for a sustainable future.
HE Minister of Environment and Climate Change, Sheikh Dr. Faleh bin Nasser bin Ahmed bin Ali Al-Thani delivered a compelling speech, underscoring Qatar's commitment to environmental conservation and its impressive sustainability milestones since 1996. The dialogue spotlighted Qatar's green urban developments, advanced transportation networks, and significant solar power initiatives. Notably, Qatar's accomplishment in hosting the most sustainable FIFA World Cup was highlighted as a testament to its dedication to environmental stewardship.
HE Ambassador of the French Republic, Jean-Baptiste Faivre, lauded the efforts behind Expo 2023 Doha, emphasizing it as a testament to Qatar's dedication to elevating climate change awareness. He noted the alignment between the Qatar National Vision 2030 and the French National Strategy, with both nations converging on shared objectives aimed at a sustainable future. Faivre further stressed that tackling climate change requires collaborative, effective solutions on a global scale.
Aligning perfectly with the objectives of Expo 2023 Doha, the two-day dialogue was a testament to the power of collective effort. The first day focused on climate change innovations, economic diversification, and the critical balance of food and water security. Day two ventured deeper into sustainable transport, the potential of artificial intelligence in environmental conservation, and the emerging realm of green finance.
The dialogue served as a profound reflection of the Expo's overarching vision, emphasizing the importance of blending innovation, collaboration, and strategic action to carve out a more sustainable future for all.
