On the occasion of World Recycling Day, Expo 2023 Doha shed light on the topic of sustainability - one of its main themes - by organizing a special celebration focused on educating visitors about the importance of recycling and waste reduction. Expo 2023 Doha offered its guests a number of workshops and seminars to provide a platform for experts to exchange knowledge, experiences, and best practices with attendees, contributing to the promotion of environmental stewardship and responsible consumption.
The event highlighted Expo 2023 Doha's strong commitment to sustainability and effective waste management systems, demonstrated through innovative approaches adopted at the exhibition, such as waste sorting at the source and multiple recycling facilities provided on-site.
Additionally, the organizing committee of Expo 2023 Doha prioritized comprehensive educational programs targeting individuals of all ages to enhance community awareness and define their responsibilities towards the environment. Sustainability and its importance were key themes of the exhibition, which prioritized the use of reusable, environmentally friendly, and biodegradable materials in infrastructure, with the hope of setting a positive precedent in the major events sector.
The organizing committee of Expo 2023 Doha stated, " The organizing committee of Expo 2023 Doha Horticulture Exhibition has demonstrated its steadfast commitment to recycling from the outset, which is an integral part of local and global sustainability efforts. This commitment has been evident on more than one occasion, before and during the exhibition. We participated in the third edition of the Waste Management Conference and Exhibition organized by the Ministry of Municipality on May 9 and 10, 2023. We also hosted the Recycling and Sustainability Conference and Exhibition 2024 on February 14 and 15 at the Expo site in Al Bidda Park, ensuring the integration of recycling and effective waste management throughout the exhibition. These initiatives aim to enhance local and global awareness to bring about long-term change in attitudes and behaviours towards the environment, embodying Qatar's National Vision 2030, which prioritizes environmental management and sustainable development.”
