In keeping with Expo 2023 held under the theme “Green Desert, Better Environment" which aims to promote sustainable innovations and combat desertification, the 8th edition of the dates festival, will see the participation of local farms who will confer valuable, time-honoured agricultural know-how that has proven to be pertinent against a backdrop of rampant desertification and depletion of water resources across the globe.
Under the hospice of the Agricultural Affairs Department of the Ministry of Municipality and the Expo 2023, the festival comes within the framework of the great interest that Qatar attaches to supporting and encouraging local production of all national products, including dates, in conjunction with the season of date production in the country.
The festival is also poised to deliver a superior culinary experience and invite visitors to embark on an adventure brimming with intriguing tales of palm trees, along with historical cultivation practices that yield these exceptional fruits renowned for their high nutritional content and exceptional sweet flavours.
It is also part of the efforts to achieve food security, develop the agricultural sector, including palm trees, support farm owners and those interested in palm cultivation, and upgrade the varieties of dates in the country.
